Srinagar, Aug 13 (KNO): In a unique display of patriotism, water sports athletes on Thursday carried the Tricolour during a Tiranga rally at Pokribal Lake in Srinagar ahead of Independence Day.
Led by water sports coach Bilquis Mir, the athletes took to the waters carrying the national flags, creating a striking tribute to the Tricolour as the country prepares to celebrate its 80th Independence Day.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Bilquis told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the Tricolour holds a special place in the lives of athletes. "Tricolour is our pride, and it unites us as athletes. Whenever an athlete or champion wins or competes, the most important thing is that our Tricolour is raised for the country,” she said.
The rally brought together water sports athletes in a distinctive celebration of the national flag, blending sporting spirit with the festive atmosphere ahead of August 15.
The initiative also highlighted the growing participation of local athletes in water sports and their efforts to take the sport to wider platforms.
